Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Kyiv is examining a peace proposal from the United States as the country faces growing pressure from Washington and sustained Russian attacks nearly four years into the conflict.
On Friday, Zelenskyy discussed the plan with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
“We are working on the document prepared by the American side. This must be a plan that ensures a real and dignified peace,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.
He added, “We are coordinating closely to make sure our principled stances are fully considered. We have agreed on the next steps and instructed our teams to work together at the corresponding levels.”
The comments come amid media reports suggesting that former President Donald Trump’s 28-point proposal largely aligns with several of Russia’s key demands.
According to reports, the plan would require Ukraine to cede additional territory, reduce the size of its military, and accept restrictions on future NATO membership—measures that have raised concern among Kyiv and its allies.
