Actor Yul Edochie has dismissed widespread reports claiming that his father, veteran Nollywood icon Pete Edochie, has passed away.
In a post shared on Instagram, Yul described his father as “The Lion of Africa” and reaffirmed that the respected actor is alive and in good health. He accompanied the message with a photograph and urged members of the public to disregard what he called false information circulating online.
Expressing admiration and optimism, Yul said he believes his father will live beyond 100 years. He characterised the viral reports as fabricated and misleading.
The clarification was further reinforced by Yul’s elder brother, Leo Edochie, who also refuted the rumours. Leo maintained that their father remains strong and healthy.
The statement from the Edochie family comes in response to unverified claims that had spread across social media platforms, prompting concern among fans of the celebrated actor.
Pete Edochie, regarded as one of Nollywood’s most influential figures, continues to command respect for his decades-long contribution to the Nigerian film industry.
