Nigerian singer and producer Young Jonn has issued a sharp response to critics who question his musical range, insisting that his achievements are the result of over a decade of hard work.
The artist expressed his frustrations in a recent post on X, addressing those who describe his sound as repetitive. He urged non-fans to simply move on rather than belittle his efforts. According to him, dismissive comments undermine the years he has invested in building his career.
Young Jonn began his professional journey as a music producer in 2010 and later became widely recognised through his work with Olamide’s YBNL collective. His transition into full-time singing gained momentum in 2022 after he signed with Chocolate City and released his breakout single Dada, which received even greater traction following a remix featuring Davido.
Although displeased with harsh criticism, the singer expressed gratitude to supporters who consistently stand by him. He credited his loyal fanbase for motivating him to keep evolving creatively, while condemning those who choose to insult or downplay his progress.
Young Jonn continues to position himself as one of Afrobeats’ evolving voices, maintaining that his growth is intentional and driven by years of dedication, not luck.
