Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has reconciled with veteran filmmaker Afeez Owo after their public disagreement, tendering a heartfelt apology during Odunlade Adekola’s movie premiere on Wednesday evening.
In a video that quickly spread online, Wumi walked up to Afeez, went down on her knees and said, “I’m sorry, sir. Please forgive me.”
Afeez, who initially appeared reluctant, eventually lifted her up and embraced her, signaling the end of their rift.
The reconciliation comes two months after Wumi publicly criticised Afeez for comments he made during an interview on the African A-List podcast. In the interview, Afeez suggested that the actress’s on-screen behaviour reflected her real-life personality, describing “violence” as her “comfort zone.”
Wumi responded with a fiery, now-deleted Instagram video in which she dismissed his remarks as “rubbish,” sparking widespread reactions from fans. Many social media users sided with Afeez, claiming his assessment was accurate. Amid the backlash, Wumi was reportedly hospitalised.
Their reunion at the premiere brings a close to a tense episode that had drawn significant attention across the Nollywood community.
