Shola Ogudu, mother of Wizkid’s 14-year-old son Boluwatife, popularly known as Champz, has thanked fans and organisers for the overwhelming show invitations following the release of his debut EP, Champion’s Arrival.
In a statement shared on X, Ogudu clarified that Champz will not be participating in live performances at this time. She cited his young age and the importance of focusing on personal and artistic development as the reason for declining show bookings.
“We want to say a Big Thank you for the countless show invitations and for considering Champz. Due to his age, we’re prioritising development over live performances for now, and have had to decline show bookings. We truly appreciate the interest and understanding,” she wrote.
The EP, released in November, has already achieved significant success, topping charts and earning international attention. Champz marked the one-month milestone of Champion’s Arrival by celebrating milestones including crossing one million Spotify listeners and amassing millions of streams globally.
“Charting across countries, crossing 1M Spotify listeners, pulling in millions of streams, and becoming a top album in under 5 hours; I’m honestly grateful for every moment of it,” Champz posted online. “Humbled, motivated, and ready for whatever comes next. This is only the beginning. So help me God.”
Champz’s music, which blends Afrobeats with UK grime influences, has been widely praised by fans and critics alike, positioning him as one of Nigeria’s most promising young talents.
