A fresh controversy has erupted in Nigeria’s music scene after Tufab, an associate of superstar Wizkid, accused Davido of threatening him in a series of alleged messages.
The claim surfaced on Wednesday when Tufab posted screenshots on X (formerly Twitter), saying the messages came directly from Davido. In the posts, he urged the public to hold the Afrobeats star responsible should anything happen to him.
According to the leaked exchanges, Davido warned Tufab against referring to him as “Osakpolo,” a name he insisted he does not answer to. The singer allegedly went further, identifying himself as a member of the “Aye” fraternity while branding Tufab as a “bird.”
“My name is not Osakpolo I’m warning you… You be bird, I be aye, make we play the game,” one of the alleged messages read.
Tufab, however, rejected the claims. He denied calling Davido by the disputed name and distanced himself from any cult group or fraternity.
“But I didn’t even call you that. And please stop warning me bro… I’ve never said anything hurtful to you,” Tufab responded in the chat, adding in his public statement that the threats have become “too often.”
In a follow-up post, he stressed: “This is not the first time. My life is under threat and if anything happens to me, you all know who to hold responsible. The only reason I’m doing this is to protect myself.”
The exchange has since set off heated reactions on X, with many users criticizing Davido and demanding explanations. Neither Davido nor his camp has publicly responded to the allegations as of press time.
