Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has responded to criticisms from Grammy-nominated Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti.
Seun Kuti had reportedly targeted Wizkid and his fans during recent livestreams, chastising comparisons between the contemporary artist and his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
Breaking his silence, Wizkid took to Instagram and X to defend himself. On Instagram, he boldly declared:
“I big pass your papa!! Wetin you don do? I’m Big Wiz everyday.”
He further amplified his response on X, writing:
“Ok everybody better pass Wizkid! Can we all sleep now? Fela fight for freedom, this fool dey fight FC! Oloshi Omo ale!”
The posts have reignited debates online about respecting music legends, generational perspectives, and the boundaries of public commentary in Nigeria’s music industry.
Fans and critics have since flooded social media with reactions, with opinions divided between defending Wizkid and defending the legacy of Fela Kuti.
