Wikki Tourists head coach, Bashir Saleh, has identified ineffective finishing as the primary cause of the team’s current poor run of form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The Bauchi Elephants are now without a win in their last four matches across all competitions, a streak that includes their recent 1-0 defeat to Rivers United on Monday.
Saleh admitted that despite creating opportunities against Rivers United, the squad is failing to convert them into goals:
“Our problem has been finishing. We created enough chances to get something from the game against Rivers United. Our problem has been finishing. The technical crew is working hard to address this, and we believe improvements will come soon,” Saleh told the club’s media.
Current League Status
Wikki Tourists’ recent struggles have impacted their position in the league table. After 17 matches this season, their record stands at:
-
5 Wins
-
6 Draws
-
6 Defeats
-
Total Points: 21
The Bauchi-based club currently sits in the mid-table region (14th position as per the available data), but their proximity to the relegation zone makes an urgent improvement in form necessary.
The technical crew is now reportedly working tirelessly to address the lack of goal-scoring prowess as the team aims to arrest their slide and secure vital points in their upcoming fixtures.
