Former Manchester United mainstay Wes Brown has offered a critical assessment of Benjamin Šeško’s performance following the Red Devils’ 3–1 Premier League triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday. While the 22-year-old Slovenian international successfully added his name to the scoresheet at Old Trafford, Brown argued that the striker’s output should have been even more substantial given the quality of the opportunities presented to him during his late-game cameo.
Introduced as a tactical substitute for Bryan Mbeumo in the 77th minute, Šeško joined Casemiro and Matheus Cunha in finding the back of the net to secure a vital three points for the hosts. However, the victory—fueled by the creative influence of the club captain—left Brown wanting more from the young forward in terms of his finishing efficiency.
Analyzing the match dynamics on MUTV, Brown highlighted the contrast between the exceptional service provided and the missed chances to extend the lead:
“Great goals and fantastic from Bruno Fernandes. The vision, the pace of the ball, it is brilliant. That man, Sesko, got his goal. Also, I think he should have done better. He had another couple of great chances to score.”
Despite the criticism, Šeško’s ability to impact the game from the bench remains a positive sign for the United frontline. Nevertheless, as the club pushes for a top-four finish, the consensus among former players like Brown is that the Slovenian must refine his composure in front of goal to ensure that the “brilliant” service from the midfield is fully exploited in the final stages of the campaign.
