Theatre Commander of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Major General Idris Warrah, has announced a strengthened military campaign against bandits in the Northwest, pledging that no hideout will remain safe for criminals.
Speaking on Wednesday in Sokoto during a visit to the 8 Division Headquarters and training facilities, General Warrah said the Nigerian Army remains resolute, battle-ready, and committed to eliminating banditry.
“We are not here to negotiate or celebrate with bandits. Our mission is clear: defeat the enemy and restore peace to our communities”, he said.
The Theatre Commander stressed that discipline, strict adherence to orders, and operational focus would drive the next phase of offensives. Troops were urged to remain mentally prepared, resilient, and aggressive in ongoing engagements.
Accompanied by Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Warrah acknowledged the successes achieved so far, including clearing hideouts, recovering lost territories, and seizing weapons. He emphasized that the fight must continue with increased momentum and precision.
Highlighting the Army’s commitment to personnel welfare, he assured soldiers, including those wounded in action, of proper care, support, and recognition. During his visit to 248 Recce Battalion in Illela, he inspected accommodations and training facilities, noting areas for improvement while praising progress.
“The foundation of the Nigerian Army is discipline and resilience”, Warrah said. “Now is the time to stand tall and end this menace once and for all”.
