Nigeria striker Terem Moffi has called on his teammates to stay focused and deliver victories in their final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
The Super Eagles will face Lesotho in Polokwane on Friday before returning home to meet Benin on Tuesday in what could prove decisive for their qualification hopes.
Moffi, who plays for OGC Nice in France, urged the team to concentrate on winning their own matches while keeping faith that other results will work in Nigeria’s favour.
“We are really confident about qualifying for the World Cup,” Moffi said in an interview with the Super Eagles media team.
“We have to do our part and wait for the result of the other team. So, we are really confident things will go our way.”
Nigeria currently sit third in Group C, three points behind leaders South Africa and Benin, with just two games remaining.
Under new head coach Eric Chelle, the team must win both fixtures to stand a realistic chance of booking a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The Super Eagles have appeared in six of the last eight World Cups, but their absence from Qatar 2022 remains a sore point among fans and players.
Friday’s clash against Lesotho will take place at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in South Africa, with kick-off set for 4pm Nigerian time.
