Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has described the demolition of his businesses near Nyayo Stadium as political persecution, saying he has been leasing the property from Kenya Railways for the past 40 years.
The businesses, located along Douglas Wakiihiru Road off Lang’ata Road, behind Nyayo Stadium, were demolished on Tuesday night, marking the second such exercise at the site. Accompanied by heavily armed police officers, excavators and bulldozers moved in and flattened two semi-permanent structures, while other property at the premises, including vehicles, was damaged.
