The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Nigeria has formally notified the public, including all participating candidates and educational stakeholders, that the results for the 2026 First Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates are now available.
This examination cycle was conducted across Nigeria from Wednesday, January 28, to Saturday, February 14, 2026. Following the conclusion of the tests, the Council organized the coordination and assessment of candidate responses at three strategic hubs located in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna. This intensive evaluation phase spanned from February 26 to March 13, 2026, involving a dedicated workforce of 608 examiners to ensure academic integrity.
Statistical data for the 2026 series indicates a growing interest in the computer-based format. Total enrollment reached 10,523 candidates—marking an 11.49% rise from the 9,438 individuals who registered in 2025. Of those enrolled, 10,480 candidates successfully sat the examination across 166 designated centers nationwide.
The Council also maintained its commitment to inclusivity, accommodating 43 candidates with various special needs. This group included 11 visually impaired individuals, four candidates with hearing impairments, and four albinos, all of whom received specialized administrative support during the testing period.
Demographic analysis of the participants reveals a near-even gender distribution: 5,106 males and 5,374 females took part in the exercise, with female candidates accounting for 48.72% of the total examinees.
