In his statement, VP Shettima reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to the Armed Forces to review and strengthen security operations across the country. This includes the deployment of advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to combat terrorist groups effectively.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” the Vice President stated.
The press release noted that Governor Zulum had visited Darajamal community on Saturday to console the families affected by the Boko Haram attack.
VP Shettima expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ ability to overcome the security challenges in the state, citing President Tinubu’s approval for acquiring additional drones and the directive for all security agencies to intensify and review operational strategies.
Highlighting the federal government’s consideration for establishing state police, Shettima stressed the need for specialized security units capable of understanding local terrain and culture to address state-specific security challenges effectively.
