Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has spoken out regarding the recent bonus dispute between the national team and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The controversy erupted on Tuesday when the Super Eagles refused to train to protest the non-payment of their outstanding bonuses and allowances. The standoff was resolved the following day, allowing the team to return to preparations ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff clash against Gabon.
Reflecting on the situation after Nigeria’s 4-1 victory over the Panthers on Thursday, Osimhen emphasized the need for certain issues to be addressed while commending the quick action taken by NFF President Ibrahim Gusau.
“There are some things that have to be rectified. I have to say big kudos to the NFF president, he swiftly came into the picture and got it sorted, which is fine and good,” Osimhen told newsmen. “Now, we have come and won the game, everything is resolved, we go back to our hotel and try to see if we can get it done.”
The Galatasaray forward will be key for Nigeria as they prepare to face DR Congo in the World Cup playoff final on Sunday, aiming to secure a ticket to the inter-confederation playoffs in March 2026.
