The Nigerian film industry has lost another veteran as actor Oyewole Olowomojuore, widely known as Baba Gebu, has passed away.
The Yoruba movie star reportedly died on Wednesday evening after a brief illness.
Filmmaker Kunle Afod announced the news via Instagram, expressing deep sorrow over the actor’s passing. Afod described him as a respected figure whose contributions left a lasting impact on the industry.
Other Nollywood personalities also shared their condolences on social media.
Actor Yemi Solade prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest, while Akin Olaiya, Saje, and Abiodun Thomas offered similar tributes, wishing him peaceful rest and comfort for the family he leaves behind.
Actress Sola Kosoko also mourned the filmmaker’s demise, honouring him as a “legend.”
Baba Gebu was widely recognised for his roles in Yoruba cinema and earned admiration for his decades-long career. His death adds to the string of losses recently recorded in the entertainment industry, sparking heartfelt reactions from fans and colleagues alike.
