Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse has criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the continued rise in petrol prices across Nigeria.
Reacting to reports that fuel prices have surpassed ₦1,000 per litre, the activist took to social media to express frustration with the current economic situation, describing the government’s policies as harmful to Nigerians.
Criticism Over Fuel Price Increase
In a video statement circulating online, VeryDarkMan accused the administration of failing to manage the country’s economic challenges.
“Fuel price hits over ₦1,000 per litre. President Bola Tinubu is the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria,” he said while criticising the government’s handling of fuel subsidy reforms.
He argued that conditions were better before the subsidy removal policy was implemented, claiming that the system at the time still offered some benefits to citizens.
According to him, the decision to end the subsidy has placed additional financial pressure on Nigerians already facing rising living costs.
Concerns Over Education and Governance
Beyond fuel prices, the commentator also raised concerns about developments in Nigeria’s education sector.
He referenced reports of Nigerian students studying abroad who have allegedly faced difficulties with scholarship payments, claiming some beneficiaries in Morocco had been left stranded.
VeryDarkMan also questioned how funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidies were being used, arguing that Nigerians deserved transparency on the issue.
Debate Over Economic Policies
The remarks add to the ongoing public debate surrounding the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration since taking office in 2023.
Government officials have maintained that removing the petrol subsidy was necessary to stabilise public finances and redirect resources toward development projects.
However, the policy continues to draw criticism from some citizens and commentators who argue that its impact has increased living costs across the country.
