Nigerian rapper Vector Tha Viper has stirred discussion online after sharing his thoughts on intelligence, influence and public perception in politics, including comments about former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Vector, whose real name is Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, spoke during a recent podcast appearance when asked whether Obi was overhyped or if Nigerians should be mindful of his political influence.
“Nigerians Better Be Careful”
Responding cautiously, the rapper described Obi as highly intelligent and capable of articulating his ideas convincingly.
“As a matter of fact, Nigerians better be careful of such a man, that is very highly intelligent,” Vector said.
He quickly clarified that his statement was not based on any specific wrongdoing or inside knowledge.
“Not because I have or know anything wrong with him,” he explained. “I don’t know anything that I can say you should beware of this person.”
Vector added that individuals who are well-read and persuasive often command strong public attention, noting that such figures can be influential.
Not a Dismissal
The rapper emphasised that his remarks were not intended to undermine Obi’s work or political efforts.
“This is not in any way to stifle what he is doing,” he said, adding that history has shown that some public figures once widely admired later failed to meet expectations.
Renewed Debate
Vector’s comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with supporters and critics interpreting his remarks in different ways.
Obi, who was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 election, continues to command significant support, particularly among young voters.
The podcast exchange adds another layer to ongoing conversations about political leadership, public trust and the role of influence in Nigeria’s democratic landscape.
