LaLiga side Valencia has launched a pursuit of Nigeria’s captain, Wilfred Ndidi, as they look to fortify their squad during the January transfer window. According to reports from Tribuna Deportiva, the Spanish club intends to secure the 29-year-old on a loan deal that includes a future purchase option.
Ndidi, who currently represents Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig after moving from Leicester City last summer, has reportedly signaled his willingness to join Carlos Corberán’s project at the Mestalla.
The move comes at a critical juncture for Valencia, who find themselves entangled in a grueling battle against relegation in the Spanish top flight. The club’s management is moving aggressively to recruit experienced talent to salvage their season, having already finalized a permanent deal for another Nigerian international, striker Umar Sadiq. Corberán believes Ndidi’s defensive discipline and veteran leadership provide the necessary stability to steer the “Los Ches” away from the bottom three.
Ndidi is currently unavailable for immediate club duties as he leads the Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Despite his focus on securing a podium finish for Nigeria, the midfielder appears ready for a new challenge in Spain once the tournament concludes. If the clubs reach an agreement, Ndidi would transition from Istanbul to Valencia, reuniting with his international teammate Sadiq to spearhead the club’s survival efforts.
