Valencia CF has prioritized the acquisition of Nigerian international Umar Sadiq as the winter transfer window approaches, seeking to resolve a persistent scoring drought that has left the club in a precarious league position. The “Los Ches” hierarchy previously integrated the striker into their squad during a successful six-month loan spell in the latter half of the 2024/2025 season.
During that period, Sadiq netted five goals in 16 appearances, playing a pivotal role in maintaining the club’s top-flight status. Although the Mestalla outfit attempted to make the move permanent during the summer, negotiations with Real Sociedad ultimately stalled.
The 28-year-old forward currently finds himself on the periphery of the “White and Blues” squad in San Sebastián, struggling to secure consistent minutes under the current technical setup. Sadiq has featured in only five La Liga matches this season, primarily serving as a late-game substitute. This lack of continuity has reportedly fueled the player’s desire to return to a familiar environment where he previously flourished as a primary attacking threat. Real Sociedad, meanwhile, appears open to facilitating a departure to alleviate their wage bill and allow the striker to rediscover his match rhythm elsewhere.
Valencia’s urgency in the transfer market stems from an underwhelming campaign that has seen them slip to 17th in the La Liga standings, hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. Management views the 1.91-meter striker as the ideal solution to bolster their offensive output and provide the physical presence necessary to climb the table. As the January window nears, Valencia is expected to accelerate discussions for either a fresh loan agreement or a structured permanent transfer to ensure Sadiq joins the squad for the second stanza of the season.
