Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has highlighted the importance of establishing clear boundaries with female colleagues when filming scenes that involve physical closeness.
Speaking during an interview with BBC News Igbo, the actor explained that he prioritises open conversations with actresses before filming such scenes to ensure everyone feels comfortable and respected.
According to Arukwe, discussing limits in advance helps prevent misunderstandings and maintains professionalism on set.
“I always discuss boundaries with any female colleague I’m asked to act with,” he said. “We talk about what is acceptable before filming begins. I avoid touching areas that could make the actress or her partner uncomfortable.”
The actor also noted that his approach is guided partly by his commitment to his marriage.
“I am a married man,” he added.
Arukwe, who gained widespread attention for portraying Odogwu Paranran in Love in Every Word, also addressed rumours linking him romantically with some of his colleagues.
He dismissed the claims, stressing that the chemistry viewers see on screen is simply part of his job as an actor.
“The rumours about me and different women are not true,” he said. “What people see in movies is just part of my work.”
The actor further credited the Odogwu Paranran role for boosting his career, noting that it significantly increased his visibility in the industry.
“That character opened more doors for me,” he said, adding that many fans now recognise him because of the role.
