US Senator Ted Cruz has renewed his push for legislative action against Nigerian officials accused of involvement in religious persecution.
In a post on his official X handle, Cruz wrote, “Enough is enough. Congress should move my Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act to push back against the Nigerian officials behind these atrocities.”
The proposed legislation, which the Texas lawmaker has championed in previous congressional sessions, seeks to impose targeted sanctions on individuals and entities found responsible for violations of religious freedom in Nigeria.
Cruz’s renewed call comes amid growing concern among US lawmakers and rights advocates over attacks on worshippers and alleged government inaction in parts of Nigeria.
