Reality TV personality and singer Uriel Oputa has addressed criticism about her single status, emphasising that being married does not define her worth.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Oputa explained that she prioritises her safety and peace over societal expectations, refusing to rush into a relationship that could compromise her well-being.
“Being married or having a husband does not define me. And if I were married right now, 100%, it would have been to the wrong person, someone for whom my safety was never a priority,” she wrote. “I am not late, and I will never rush into anything that compromises my peace.”
She encouraged women to focus on themselves, stressing that societal pressure should never dictate personal choices. Oputa also highlighted her experiences with dating, noting that she is not “picky” but is deeply protective of her heart.
“My DMs are full. Let’s start there. I’ve never been picky with men. The only thing I have ever been protective of is my heart. Because I am a romantic. I love deeply, fully, and with intention,” she said.
The singer’s statement comes in response to online criticism targeting her single status, and she used the moment to promote self-love, growth, and intentional relationships.
Her message resonates as an affirmation for women who feel pressured by societal expectations, reinforcing that personal happiness and self-respect take precedence over conforming to timelines or external judgments.
