The opposition is now promising to pull what it calls a “Kibaki moment” in next year’s presidential election.
Leaders opposed to President William Ruto’s administration, including Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua, have hinted they could unveil their presidential candidate only in the final months to the election, dismissing speculation that more than one contender from their camp will face the president at the ballot.
The leaders have also strongly opposed the proposed National Infrastructure Fund and plans to partially sell the government’s stake in telecommunications giant Safaricom.
