The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has pledged continued support and partnership in implementing key programmes under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Vice-President Kashim Shettima welcomed the move, describing it as a step in the right direction, and praised the president for redefining modern leadership in Nigeria.
Highlighting the administration’s vigour in pursuing legacy projects in health, nutrition, and human capital development, Shettima reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with UNICEF and other development partners to advance flagship initiatives such as the Nutrition 774 Initiative, the Economic and Financial Inclusion programme, and the Nutrition Intervention Fund.
Speaking Wednesday when he hosted a UNICEF Nigeria delegation led by the Country Representative, Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, at the State House, Abuja, Shettima said Nigeria is fortunate to have a leader determined to invest in youth and transform the education sector.
“President Bola Tinubu is a man of courage and conviction and he is doing everything possible to redefine the concept of modern leadership in Nigeria. We are on the cusp of regenerating our economy and rebuilding this nation.
The gains of our reforms are manifesting by the day, the inflationary trend is on the decline and by the end of the year, the economy will further stabilise for all to see”, he said.
While noting Nigeria’s long-standing partnership with UNICEF, Shettima expressed optimism that renewed collaboration will add value to the government’s developmental efforts.
Earlier, UNICEF’s Country Representative commended Shettima’s leadership and advocacy for humanitarian causes, describing him as a global citizen. She reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s priorities, particularly in nutrition, human capital development, and girls’ education.
She praised the administration’s interventions such as the Nutrition 774 Initiative, the Nutrition Intervention Fund, and the Nutrition Bill, stressing that Nigeria’s vision is clear and achievable.
With UNICEF reaffirming its support, both parties pledged to deepen collaboration to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda translates into tangible improvements in the lives of children and families across Nigeria.
