British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, widely known as Central Cee, has announced that he has converted to Islam.
The Band 4 Band artist revealed the news during a recent livestream, where he confirmed that he had taken his Shahada and also shared his new name.
“I just changed my name and took my Shahada. I am a Muslim now,” Central Cee said, while friends in the video offered their congratulations.
Prior to this revelation, the rapper had not publicly declared a formal religion.
Born on 4 June 1998 in London, Central Cee is the son of an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese descent. His parents separated when he was seven, and he was raised in Shepherd’s Bush alongside his mother and two younger brothers.
Central Cee’s music career began in 2014 with an appearance on a now-deleted episode of the Fire in the Streets series. He later featured on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix with J Hus in January 2015. His breakout single, Day in the Life, was released on 14 June 2020, cementing his rise in the UK drill scene.
Since then, Central Cee has become one of the UK’s most prominent drill artists, gaining international recognition for his distinct sound and lyrical style.
His conversion marks a personal milestone for the rapper, signaling a new chapter in his life alongside his continued musical success.
