The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for wind affecting parts of the UK on Thursday. One covers Northern Ireland, while the other stretches across northern England, the Midlands, north Wales and parts of Scotland.
Forecasters warn that gusts could reach 65–70 mph, with a small chance of 75–80 mph in isolated areas. The strongest winds are expected to be accompanied by rain and blustery showers.
The warning for northern England, the Midlands, north Wales and parts of Scotland is in effect from 5 am until 8 pm on Thursday. In Northern Ireland, the alert runs from 6 am to midday.

Parts of northern Scotland are already experiencing strong winds under an earlier yellow warning. The stormy weather comes ahead of a notable drop in temperatures on Friday, with snow forecast for some regions.
Joanna Robinson, Sky News weather producer, said temperatures are set to remain well below average on Friday and Saturday, with Friday bringing showers and snow reaching relatively low northern areas. Showers will ease on Saturday, with snow largely limited to the highest hills.
