Uganda captain Khalid Aucho has expressed optimism about his team’s chances at the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, despite being drawn in a tough group alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
Aucho acknowledged the strength of their opponents but insisted that the Cranes are ready to compete fiercely.
“It’s not an easy group. These are big nations, all with ambition to lead the table. But we also know our capabilities,” Aucho told reporters.
“With the experience we have added to the squad, we can combine well and compete. It will be tough, but I believe we can advance to the next round.”
Uganda, runners-up at the 1978 AFCON, will be making their ninth appearance at the continental showpiece, which is scheduled to kick off on December 21 in Morocco.
