The UEFA Champions League has confirmed that a minimum of five clubs have officially clinched qualification for the forthcoming knockout phase of this season’s tournament.
The information became public knowledge via a statement released on UEFA’s official website following the conclusion of Matchday 6 fixtures on Wednesday night.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Manchester City, and Atalanta represent the latest trio of teams to guarantee their participation in either the Round of 16 or the knockout phase play-offs.
These three clubs will advance to the next stage of the competition, joining previously confirmed qualifiers Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Under the restructured format of the competition, the top eight teams in the overall league standings earn direct passage to the Last-16 stage. Conversely, teams that finish between 9th and 24th place will compete in the knockout phase play-offs, with the winners of those two-legged ties then progressing to complete the Round of 16 bracket. Only twenty-four teams successfully secure qualification for the complete knockout phase of the Champions League.
