Udinese Group Technical Director, Nani, has confirmed the return of Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to the Bianconeri squad following the completion of his two-month suspension for betting-related offences.
Speaking during an interview, Nani said Okoye’s comeback would provide a major boost to the team after his enforced absence.
“We welcome Maduka back,” Nani stated, as quoted by Tuttoudinese.
Okoye, 26, joined Udinese in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper before his suspension. The Nigerian international previously played for Watford in England.
Nani, however, clarified that it will be up to the head coach to decide whether Okoye regains his starting spot.
“The choices are up to the coach, who has maximum freedom,” he added.
Udinese will next face Cremonese in a Serie A fixture on Monday, October 20.
