Udinese manager Kosta Runjaic has commended Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for his strong showing in Saturday’s Serie A fixture against Lecce. The Zebras claimed a 3-2 victory in an entertaining contest at the Blue Energy Stadium.
Okoye, who recently returned to competitive action after serving a two-month suspension linked to a betting scandal, delivered an assured performance between the posts. The 26-year-old’s composure and sharp reflexes were key highlights in his comeback match.
Runjaic expressed his satisfaction with the goalkeeper’s contribution, noting the difficulty of returning to top-level football after such an absence.
“Okoye hasn’t played for two months, he’s only been on the pitch in training. I think it’s not an easy situation for anyone in general,” he was quoted by Calciomercato.
“He didn’t have much to do in the first half, but despite that, we need to maintain the right level of concentration.”
