Controversial Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has publicly apologised to Afrobeats star Davido, admitting he received ₦2.5 million to attack the singer and his family on social media.
Speaking during a recent interview, Maduagwu said his actions were financially motivated and not driven by any personal grievance against Davido. He acknowledged that the music star had never wronged him and described his conduct as regrettable.
The actor disclosed that he was not acting alone, claiming he was part of a group of five influencers allegedly paid to criticise Davido online. He called on others involved in the arrangement to also admit their roles and tender apologies.
“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to Davido. I was paid to ridicule you, your wife, and your family on social media,” Maduagwu said. “We were about five influencers. I collected ₦2.5 million, and I am truly sorry. Please forgive me.”
He added that his decision to speak out was driven by guilt, noting that his conscience could no longer allow him to remain silent about what he described as a deliberate and wrongful campaign.
The apology has sparked fresh conversations online about paid influencer attacks, accountability in digital spaces, and the ethics of celebrity commentary on social media.
