Striker Christantus Uche will complete his tenure at Crystal Palace through the end of the current season, despite limited action since his deadline day loan transfer from Getafe in the summer.
Standard Sport confirms that the London club does not plan to terminate the 22-year-old Nigerian forward’s loan agreement prematurely. This decision stands even though Uche has only accumulated 68 minutes of Premier League action amidst the team’s impressive start under manager Oliver Glasner.
Uche initially secured the loan deal, which contains a substantial £17 million obligation to buy clause that activates if he achieves 10 Premier League starts for the Eagles. So far, the forward has made just one start in his 10 total appearances across all competitions.
The forward recently delivered a strong performance, making a positive impression during a 24-minute cameo in Palace’s 2-1 victory over Fulham last weekend. Reports indicate that Uche personally desires to remain at Selhurst Park and actively contribute to the club’s ongoing Champions League qualification push.
Palace currently holds the fourth position in the Premier League table, having suffered defeat in only three of their initial 15 league games.
With 23 league fixtures still remaining on the schedule, Uche retains enough time to force his way into Glasner’s regular selection plans. This window of opportunity becomes even more relevant given the Austrian manager’s public requests for additional attacking reinforcements during the upcoming January transfer window.
