The United States military has announced its first confirmed casualties following ongoing operations targeting Iran, revealing that three American service members were killed and several others injured during active combat.
In a statement, the United States Central Command said three personnel were “killed in action”, while five sustained serious injuries. Additional troops reportedly suffered minor wounds and are receiving treatment. The command added that details regarding the identities of the deceased would remain undisclosed until their families are formally notified.
The casualties come amid intensified US military strikes on Iran, involving coordinated air and naval operations. President Donald Trump stated that the objective of the campaign is to significantly weaken Iran’s military capabilities. Fighting has continued into a second day, with officials describing the situation as evolving.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it launched ballistic missiles at the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf.
U.S. military officials rejected the claim, saying the carrier was not struck and remains fully operational, continuing flight missions in support of ongoing operations.
