Dubai authorities have confirmed that “two drones fell in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport (DXB)” on Wednesday, injuring four people amid ongoing regional tensions.
The incident comes on the 12th day of the Iran crisis, which has disrupted air traffic across the Gulf and caused flight cancellations, rescheduling, and re-routing worldwide.
According to Dubai’s media office, the attack left two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi national with minor injuries, and one Indian national with moderate injuries. Authorities confirmed that air traffic at DXB is continuing as normal.
The outbreak of war between the United States, Israel and Iran has seen much of Middle Eastern airspace closed amid missile and drone threats, and the crisis has also disrupted energy markets, driving global fuel prices higher
UAE carriers, including Emirates and Etihad, have resumed some flights since February 28 but are still operating below full capacity. The drone incident on Wednesday marked a renewed disruption at DXB, the world’s busiest airport for international passengers, which handled nearly 100 million passengers last year.
