The Secretary of Eko Tourism Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Tunde Lawrenson has praised Eko Hotels and Suites for its continued role in promoting Nigerian culture and tourism through the annual Tropical Christmas Wonderland event.
Speaking at the press conference for the unveiling of the Tropical Christmas Wonderland – Kingdom of Lights Edition 2025 on Tuesday, at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, Lawrenson, described the hotel as the “African Disneyland.”
Lawrenson said, “Eko Hotel has gradually become the Disneyland — the African Disneyland. This is our original African Disneyland. This is us. This is who we are.”
He praised Eko Hotels for reminding Nigerians of their cultural essence, noting that projects like the Tropical Christmas Wonderland reflect a renewed appreciation for the country’s creativity and heritage.
“We briefly lost our identity. We briefly lost who we are. But now we know who we are. We are Nigerians. We are Lagosians. And thank you very much, Eko Hotels, for bringing this recognition back to us,” he added.
Lawrenson, who also attended the 2024 edition, expressed his admiration for the scale and ambition of this year’s event, describing it as “much bigger and more captivating.”
“I was here last year, and with the look of things, it’s a lot — I don’t know how many times bigger than what it was last year, but I can feel it. I have goosebumps all over me. I know it’s going to be wonderful, and everybody should be here,” he said with enthusiasm.
The Kingdom of Lights Edition 2025 promises to deliver a magical fusion of art, entertainment, and culture for families and visitors, reaffirming Eko Hotels’ position as a hub for creativity and festive innovation in Nigeria.
