England manager Thomas Tuchel has praised Noni Madueke’s hunger and work rate in the Three Lions’ 5-0 win over Serbia in Belgrade on Tuesday.
Madueke, who scored England’s second goal in the 35th minute, impressed Tuchel with both his attacking flair and defensive contribution. Harry Kane, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi, and substitute Marcus Rashford were also on the scoresheet at the Rajko Mitic Stadium.
“I’m most happy about his attitude today, the reaction after ball losses, the work that he put in to help Reece [James],” Tuchel told reporters. “The work-rate is what I like the most in his performance today and, yeah, from there he’s fast, he’s direct, he likes to dribble. That’s what we want from him.”
The German tactician, however, stressed the Arsenal winger must stay focused to fulfill his potential.
England lead Group K of the European qualifiers, seven points clear of Armenia. Their next fixture is against Latvia in October, where Madueke will be pushing to keep his place in Tuchel’s lineup.
