U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday introduced a special fast-track visa scheme aimed at travelers holding tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while cautioning that the program does not guarantee entry into the United States.
Speaking at the White House alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump urged prospective visitors to act quickly. “For those who intend to join us for the World Cup, I strongly encourage you to apply right away,” he said, highlighting the administration’s efforts to streamline the visa process for football fans.
Infantino described the initiative, dubbed the “FIFA Pass,” as a “very important announcement.” He explained, “If you have a ticket for the World Cup, you can have a prioritised appointment to get your visa. We’ll have between five and 10 million people coming to America from all over the world to enjoy the World Cup, and with this FIFA Pass, we can make sure that those who buy a ticket, that are legitimate football or soccer fans, can come and attend the World Cup in the best conditions.”
Despite the fast-track system, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that ticket holders should not assume guaranteed entry. Concerns have persisted that Trump’s stricter immigration policies could complicate travel for international fans attending the tournament across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The announcement comes as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, with organizers aiming to ensure a seamless experience for millions of supporters traveling to the tri-nation event.
