US President Donald Trump has shared messages from French President Emmanuel Macron proposing a G7 meeting in Paris following discussions at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
In a screenshot posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, Macron suggests holding the meeting on Thursday afternoon and says he does not understand Trump’s actions regarding Greenland. Macron also proposes inviting Ukrainian, Danish, Syrian and Russian representatives on the margins of the talks and invites Trump to dinner in Paris.
Trump does not share any response to the message. Neither the White House nor Macron’s office comments publicly on the exchange, though a source close to the French president confirms the message is authentic.
The disclosure comes as European Union leaders prepare for an emergency summit in Brussels on Thursday evening, following Trump’s threat to impose new tariffs on several EU countries linked to his demand to acquire Greenland.
