US President Donald Trump has issued a harsh condemnation of South Africa, alleging widespread human rights abuses against Afrikaners and other descendants of European settlers. In a statement, he claimed the US skipped the recent G20 Summit in South Africa because Pretoria “refuses to acknowledge or address” what he described as killings and forced farm takeovers targeting white residents.
Trump sharply criticised major US media outlets, accusing them of ignoring what he called “genocide” and insisting their silence was driven by political bias.
He further stated that South Africa declined to formally hand over the G20 Presidency to a senior representative from the US Embassy who attended the closing ceremony. According to him, the move justified the US decision to bar South Africa from receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20 Summit planned for Miami, Florida.
Trump added that South Africa “is not a country worthy of membership anywhere” and announced that the US would immediately halt all payments and subsidies directed to the country.
The South African government has not yet responded to the claims.
