Former Watford striker, Troy Deeney, has tipped Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal as the top contenders for this season’s UEFA Champions League title.
Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over PSG in Paris on Tuesday, Deeney said the three clubs stand out as favourites to lift the trophy.
“I think for all of us we said they would be in our top three – PSG, Bayern Munich, and Arsenal [for the trophy],” Deeney told CBS Sports.
The former Premier League star, however, noted that Bayern’s performance against PSG makes a strong case for their place at the top of the list.
“I would make the argument that Bayern after today should be top, but you could also argue Arsenal should be top; they are leading both their domestic league and Champions League groups. The Premier League is more competitive than the Bundesliga, but Bayern are right up there,” he added.
PSG are the defending champions after winning last season’s competition.
