Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks and neutralised several insurgent leaders during midnight assaults on four military locations in northeastern Nigeria.
According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force, the insurgents attempted to overrun military positions around Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok in Borno State.
The attacks, which occurred between approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and 3:00 a.m. on Friday, were met with strong resistance from alert troops of Operation HADIN KAI, who maintained their defensive positions despite the intensity of the assault.
The statement explained that troops executed coordinated flanking manoeuvres supported by reinforcement units drawn from Sectors 1 and 2, forcing the terrorists into disorganised withdrawals.
In several instances where the defensive perimeter was temporarily breached, soldiers launched swift counteroffensive operations and regained full control of their positions.
During the clashes, multiple insurgent leaders, including several identified commanders referred to as “Amirs,” were neutralised alongside other fighters.
Although some structures within the affected military installations sustained damage during the firefight, authorities confirmed that all bases remain under the firm control of government forces.
The army further disclosed that, in coordination with the air component of the operation, precision airstrikes were conducted against fleeing insurgents and identified hostile positions overnight, resulting in additional militant casualties and disruption of enemy movements.
Ground forces are currently conducting follow-up exploitation operations across the affected areas, with ongoing recovery of bodies, weapons, and other combat equipment belonging to the terrorists.
The statement also confirmed that some soldiers paid the supreme price during the battle, including a senior officer who reportedly led from the front while courageously directing troops against the attackers.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed that Operation HADIN KAI remains in full control of the operational theatre.
The military described the failed assaults as a sign of growing desperation among terrorist elements facing sustained pressure from security operations aimed at restoring stability and protecting civilians across northeastern Nigeria.
