Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully repelled an ISWAP attack and launched a decisive counter-offensive in Borno State.
This information was disclosed in a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, on 10 February 2026.
In the early hours of 5 February 2026, ISWAP militants attempted to attack Forward Operating Base (FOB) Auno. Sector 1 troops responded with precise and disciplined firepower, successfully thwarting the assault.
Following this success, on 9 February 2026, OPHK forces, in coordination with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), pursued retreating terrorists along the Komala axis in Konduga Local Government Area. Troops engaged enemy fighters up to the Gidan Kaji axis, neutralizing sixteen militants and forcing many others to flee with injuries. Over twenty bicycles, a large cache of weapons, logistical items, and other supplies critical to terrorist operations were recovered.
In a separate operation along the Bukarti axis, troops arrested suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers carrying large quantities of drugs intended for terrorist activities.

The same day, troops foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Buratai-Kamuya road. Acting on intelligence, they pursued the assailants, forcing them to abandon their victims. Two individuals, Mallam Idris Adamu and Mallam Muhammadu Safiyanu, were rescued and safely reunited with their families. In another operation along the Chibok-Damboa axis, nine additional kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

These coordinated actions underscore OPHK’s commitment to protecting civilians and supporting humanitarian efforts across Northeast Nigeria.
