Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has recorded another major milestone as her latest film, Oversabi Aunty, posted an impressive £16,205 at the UK box office during its opening weekend.
The film, which premiered on December 19, attracted strong turnout across selected cinemas in the United Kingdom, signalling growing international interest in Nollywood productions.
Reacting to the development, Abraham took to social media to express appreciation to her UK-based supporters, describing the reception as overwhelming. She thanked fans for turning out in large numbers just days after the film’s release and credited their support for the movie’s early success abroad.
According to the actress, Oversabi Aunty is still screening in selected Odeon Cinemas across the UK, encouraging moviegoers who are yet to see it to catch a showing.
The comedy-drama has also continued to gain traction back home, following earlier reports of strong box office performances in Nigeria. Fans have taken to social media to share positive reviews, praising the storyline and performances.
