Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has fulfilled a promise to support the education of a junior secondary school student, providing learning materials and financial backing to secure his academic future.
Dikeh shared the update on Instagram, explaining that the commitment was made during an evangelism outreach at Junior Secondary School Durumi II. According to her, the boy, who lost his mother, will receive support for his education from JSS1 through university.
During a recent visit to the school, the actress and her team presented the student with essential school supplies, including bags and sandals. Other students at the school also received assistance during the outreach.
“Last week, during our evangelism outreach in Junior Secondary School Durumi II, a promise was made to support a young boy’s education from JSS1 all the way to the university,” she wrote.
“By God’s grace, my team and I returned to JSS Durumi II on Monday to fulfil that promise.”
Dikeh added that the necessary financial arrangements have been made to ensure the boy can continue his junior secondary education without interruption.
Beyond supporting the student, the actress also extended help to the boy’s father, a widower responsible for raising three children alone. She revealed that she provided ₦1,000,000 to enable him start a small business and improve his ability to support his family.
“I helped him start a small business he had always hoped to venture into with ₦1,000,000, so he could provide for his family with dignity and stability,” she explained.
As part of efforts to improve learning resources at the school, Dikeh also disclosed that 10 laptops had been ordered to support digital education for students.
“This is what the Gospel looks like, not just words, but action,” she added.
The actress has earned recognition for her charitable initiatives in recent years. She recently announced plans to sponsor free JAMB registration for 1,000 students across selected cities in Nigeria as part of her ongoing educational support programmes.
