AC Milan standout Fikayo Tomori has formally expressed his regrets to Chelsea icon John Terry following a viral “blind ranking” challenge that saw the legendary captain placed at the bottom of a top-ten list. The 28-year-old defender participated in the popular digital segment hosted by SPORTBible, a format that requires players to assign a rank to individuals one by one without knowing which names will follow.
The logistical constraints of the challenge meant that Tomori had already filled the majority of his slots when the former England captain’s name was presented. With only the top spot and the tenth position remaining vacant, Tomori was forced into a difficult tactical decision, ultimately assigning Terry the number ten ranking.
Reflecting on the awkward outcome during the session, Tomori noted:
“10… Hey, JT – I’m sorry. That makes me feel a little bit better that I put JT 10th, because I knew he was gonna come up.”
The center-back clarified that the ranking was a result of the game’s mechanics rather than his personal assessment of Terry’s legacy. He suggested that if he had the opportunity to reorganize the list with full visibility, he would have adjusted the entire hierarchy to accommodate the Chelsea great much higher.
“If I were to change it around, maybe I would shift everyone down. So I’d take John Terry out of the 10th one, slide everyone down and put John Terry third. That’s what I’d do,” he said.
In Tomori’s finalized list, the pinnacle was reserved for AC Milan icons Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta in first and second place, respectively. Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos occupied the third spot he would have preferred for Terry, while Rio Ferdinand and Virgil van Dijk rounded out the middle of the pack in fifth and sixth. The remaining slots were occupied by a trio of defensive titans: Gerard Pique in seventh, Giorgio Chiellini in eighth, and Vincent Kompany in ninth.
