Award-winning Nigerian filmmaker Toka McBaror has been appointed as the program coordinator for the maiden edition of the Afric International Film Festival (AIFF), scheduled to hold in early 2026 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
McBaror confirmed his role during a recent unveiling ceremony, where he expressed excitement about leading African film practitioners to what promises to be a landmark cinematic event.
Founded by Nwakpa Wisdom Isaac and Ojini Eberechi, the AIFF is designed to showcase African culture, creativity, and community, bringing together visionary filmmakers, industry professionals, and enthusiastic audiences for a truly immersive experience.
Speaking on the festival’s vision, McBaror said the AIFF would serve as a platform for networking, collaboration, and celebration of African storytelling, highlighting the diversity and richness of the continent’s film industry.
Founder Nwakpa Wisdom Isaac emphasized that the festival aims to bridge gaps between filmmakers, investors, distributors, and audiences across Africa and the diaspora, while also providing avenues for artistic growth, education, and funding opportunities.
He added:
“Attendees can look forward to a rich, inspiring, and immersive festival experience that combines cinema, culture, and global networking. Whether you are a filmmaker, industry executive, student, or film lover, AIFF will offer something specially crafted for you. We will also host masterclasses while maintaining a focused, high-quality selection of films.”
The Afric International Film Festival promises to be a must-attend event for African cinema, uniting creative minds and celebrating the continent’s storytelling heritage on a global stage.
