Manchester United has officially sanctioned a loan move for promising midfielder Toby Collyer, who will spend the remainder of the 2025/2026 season with Championship contenders Hull City. The Red Devils announced the agreement on Friday as the 22-year-old prepares for a critical developmental stint under Tigers manager Sergej Jakirović.
Having already experienced life in the second tier earlier this season during a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion, Collyer now joins a Hull side currently positioned in the playoff spots and pushing for a return to the Premier League.
The England Under-20 international brings a pedigree of 13 senior appearances at Old Trafford to the MKM Stadium. Collyer first caught the attention of the United faithful when he made his competitive first-team debut against Manchester City in the 2024 Community Shield. Although his last senior outing for the club occurred in a 3-0 victory over Leicester City nearly a year ago, the coaching staff continues to view him as a high-potential asset. This move to East Yorkshire follows United’s recent 3-2 victory over Fulham, a result that propelled Michael Carrick’s side back into the Premier League top four.
Manager Sergej Jakirović identified Collyer as a key target to bolster his engine room, praising the midfielder’s high energy and tactical intelligence. The deal represents a significant coup for the Tigers, who fended off competition from several Championship rivals to secure the young playmaker. Collyer aims to find consistent minutes and regain match sharpness after a recent calf injury sidelined him during the turn of the year. United officials believe the competitive environment of a promotion race provides the perfect stage for the academy graduate to prove his readiness for a long-term future at the Theatre of Dreams.
The club expressed their support for the young midfielder in an official statement released via their digital channels: “Best of luck to Toby for the rest of the season.”
