Afrobeat sensation Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about a past relationship she described as “disrespectful,” revealing how a Nigerian celebrity she once dated insisted on keeping their romance a secret.
Speaking on Joe Budden’s podcast, the award-winning singer recalled how her former partner publicly flirted with other women while assuring her it was just a strategy to keep their relationship under wraps.
“I am a public figure and he is as well. He said he didn’t want us to go public, and I agreed. But whenever we went out, he would talk, laugh, and even touch other ladies, then look at me like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m just doing it so people don’t suspect,’” she said.
According to Tiwa, the experience left her feeling powerless and disrespected. “It was happening right in front of me and I couldn’t say anything. It’s a disrespect,” she added.
Although the singer did not disclose the identity of the celebrity, her revelation has reignited speculation online, with many netizens linking her comments to rumors about her past relationship with fellow artist Wizkid.
