Strengthening primary healthcare and expanding health coverage remain key priorities for the Federal Government, the FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, said during the inaugural National Health Convention and Round Table 1.0 in Abuja.
In a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Mahmoud highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment under the Renewed Hope Agenda to revitalise primary healthcare, expand health insurance coverage, improve health financing, and enhance workforce welfare.
Mahmoud reaffirmed that the administration remains committed to strengthening healthcare delivery across the country, noting that significant resources are being deployed to upgrade health facilities in the Federal Capital Territory, including both the city centre and satellite towns.
She commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) Medical Council for organising the initiative, describing it as aligned with the party’s vision of people-centered governance and sustainable development. According to her, the round table was timely and provided an opportunity for stakeholders to address pressing health challenges.
The Minister urged participants to focus on practical and implementable solutions that would improve primary healthcare services, maternal and child health outcomes, and accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage.
She encouraged stakeholders to translate discussions into concrete actions that would deliver measurable improvements in communities.
